Mumbai University Exam 2020 || Final Year University Exams Shiv Sena in Maharashtra on Monday hit at Governor B Koshyari to be in favour of conducting final year university exams in the country, and stated health of students can't be put at risk amid COVID19.
The judgment Shiv Sena in Maharashtra on Monday hit out at Army B S Koshyari to be in favour of conducting final year college exams in the country, and said health of students cannot be placed at risk amid the COVID-19 crisis.
An editorial in Sena mouthpiece'Saamana' stated when the RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has opposed holding exams in Gujarat and Goa from the present scenario, why's Koshyari's demand in contrast to it.
"Can it be because the RSS-backed BJP is not in power in Maharashtra?" The Marathi daily asked.
Koshyari, who is the chancellor of universities in Maharashtra, a week asked Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to solve the problem of conduct of final year university exams in the state"with no further delay in the higher interest of students".
In a letter to CM, Koshyari stated"not conducting the final year assessments from universities amounts to breach of the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines".
The Senate also took strong objection to a letter composed by country Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant to UGC, recommending cancellation of final year exams. Koshyari requested Thackeray to issue suitable instructions to Samant because of his"unwarranted intervention".
Defending Samant, the Sena said the minister had expressed his view about the examinations, but Koshyaris stand would be to move ahead and conduct the exams.
"The RSS-backed students' wing ABVP has compared holding exams in the current period in Gujarat and Goa. Then, why Koshyaris need is in stark contract with ABVP. Is it because the RSS-backed BJP isn't in power in Maharashtra?"
These assessments are important for the future of 10 lakh students in the country, but it cannot be held by jeopardising their health, it stated.
"When nearly all institutions are stretched to limits, how do the governor expect universities to conquer the challenges (of COVID-19) and maintain exams?" it asked.
The governors issues are real, but when students have returned home even from abroad, how can he expect exams to be held for students of local universities, the Marathi novel stated.
Major cities of this country like Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, in which headquarters of prominent universities are located, are still under the grasp of COVID-19, '' it noted.
"There is not any use in pushing the demand for conducting exams at this time," it added.
The Sena had earlier also criticised Koshyari if he did not act on the Maharashtra Cabinet's recommendation in April to nominate Uddhav Thackeray as portion of the state Legislative Council from the governor's quota.
Thackeray was finally elected unopposed into the Upper House earlier this month.
